I can never win....

So at the last minute friday night my roommate and I decided we should dress up and go downtown for the halloween festivites, we threw together a costume and an hour after fighting traffic we made it to our destination. I can now say I have drank PBR..don't judge me it was a $1. I'm all about cheap beer, i'm broke. Her and I had fun, (although it always reminds me why I don't go downtown. Parking, traffic, people, i'm just too old and don't handle it well. The next day we got up and I finally got my hair cut and colored, a year later for the color and 5 months later for the cut I feel so much better and I needed a change! I ended up going to the BBQ with the guy I was most recently dating as friends and was unkowingly staying the night 45 mins from home.

I had a great time but as a result my roommate is now pissed at me because I was unable to go home and she had to take care of my dog. It was not under my control and I am watching her dog for a week in December when she goes on vacation. I had a really good time talking with (we'll call him R) and his friends and he and I talked about things between us. I made it home in time yesterday to go to the art fair as I promised but was met with a bitchy attitude from my roommate/best friend. We took our dogs downtown and I thought had a good time (minus my flip flop breaking and me having to walk barefoot several blocks back to the car!) I was informed she was going to her mom's for a family dinner so I made other plans with R to go to dinner and movie. We enjoy each other's company and I didn't want to stay home and find something to eat.

This morning, there was the attitude...again, so I decided F that I am not carpooling with that attitude this morning so I said I'm driving myself which I think pissed her off even more. For anyone that knows me I hate conflict and arguing and avoid it at all costs. I'm a chicken but I didn't want to ride in a car for 40mins with someone that obviously is having hostile feelings towards me. No thanks! I understand that it's frustrating that she had to keep an eye on my puppy and that Sydney isn't house trained and that her and her sister (my other roommate) are pissed that my dog had an accident on the chair. I feel horribly guilty that this happened but I can't change what has already been done. I used the cleaner on the chair and it faded the spot a little. I'm not really sure what to do with it to fix it besides maybe take it to the dry cleaners and get a chair cover. I almost feel like Sydney is not worth the tension, but I can't take her back she's a puppy she's learning. Not to mention the tension because the toilet in the bathroom that I share quit working and her sister was pissed that we needed to use hers til our landlord can fix it. I'm not sure but I think my next endeavor living somewhere will be on my own. The conflicts are too much for me and I do not want my friendship ruined over this.

I just feel like I can never win with anyone in any situation. At least work is settling down a little this week!

Oh no...I'm sorry you have this tension...roommates can be tough at times. And Sydney is a puppy...just like a baby and it takes time.
Keep your head up girl!

It will get better. To ease the tension talk to your roommate and let her know that you don't want little arguments to get in the way of your friendship, but also let her know that you don't want to fight. What has happened has happened and it's time to move on. Hang in there!
