Palm trees at Christmas

Even though I'm sick...again, I am enjoying the warm weather for Christmas. Last year A and I drove home and the weather wasn't that bad for IL....we almost attempted the drive again this year but I am so, so thankful we didn't! I talked to my mom yesterday and she is trapped in her home because she is also sick again and her driveway and street are a sheet of ice!! No thank you!!! I will gladly accept the forecasted 81 degrees for Christmas Day!!!! She told me they had something like 48 accidents yesterday..YIKES!

My best friend in MD is convinced she will never thaw out! This winter has already started pretty harshly for everyone up north, hopefully the worst is over for awhile so that people can enjoy their holiday.

My goal last weekend was to not piss off my roommate, I guess when L in MD said you dream big I should have know it wasn't possible! oh well, I gave it the old college try. She e-mailed me some pretty low blows to remind me again why I'm such a terrible friend. But I took a different route, wound up deleting most of my response and in a round about way said you're right I have made some mistakes and for that I'm sorry but you have done some things too and I'm not going to point all of them out, it's in the past. I took some inspiration from the Bob Marley quote "Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect, and I don't live to be. But before you start pointing fingers, Make sure your hands are clean!" and applied it to my thoughts and let that lead me in my non hateful response to her.

Thankfully, it seems to have triggered some civility in the house and she actually spoke to me like I was a human being again last night! I'm not going to hold my breath (I couldn't if I wanted to my nose is stuffed up) but hopefully it lasts for a little while anyway at least through the holiday.
